A European old saying, states drinking a glass of wine helps you live longer. Is this statement true or false?Answer : True
The consumption of a glass of wine promotes longevity. Drinkers of wines have a lower mortality rate compared to those that drink beer or spirits in fact the mortality rate is 34% percent.

Does drinking wine prevent heart attacks? Answer : The answer here is whilst we cannot prevent heart attacks, drinking wine does reduce the chances of having a heart attack. Studies have shown that moderate drinkers suffering from high blood pressure are 30% less likely to suffer a heart attack than non drinkers.Source: a 16-year Harvard School of Public Health study of 11,711 men, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, 2007.

Does drinking wine lower the risk of heart disease?Answer : This is a true statement as Red Wines Tannins contain Procyanidins which protect against heart disease. Wines from Sardinia and South West France contain more Procyanidins than other wines.Source: a study at Queen Mary University in London, published in Nature, 2006.

Does drinking wine help prevent Diabetes?Answer : Drinking wine moderately does help Diabetes. Studies have shown that moderate drinkers of wine have a 30% less risk then non drinkers of developing Type 2 Diabetes.Source: research on 369,862 individuals studied over an average of 12 years each, at Amsterdam's VU University Medical Centre, published in Diabetes Care, 2005.

Does drinking wine lower the risk of a stroke?Answer : True, moderate drinkers of wines are less likely to suffer a stroke than compared to nondrinkers. Research has shown the moderate drinkers consuming wine have a 50% chance of suffering a clotrelated stroke through alcohol consumption.Source: a Columbia University study of 3,176 individuals over an eight-year period, published in Stroke, 2006.

Does drinking wine help the prevention of Cataracts?Answer : Moderate drinkers of alcohol are 32% less likely to develop Cataract than non drinkers. Wine drinkers are 43% less likely to develop Cataract then those drinking mainly beer.Source: a study of 1,379 individuals in Iceland, published in Nature, 2003.


Does drinking wine prevent Cancer?Answer : We cannot actually say drinking wine prevents Cancer but it does decrease the risk. Moderate drinkers of red wine reduce the risk of Colon Cancer by 45% proving that drink wine especially red wine will help.Source: a Stony Brook University study of 2,291 individuals over a four-year period, published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, 2005.


Does drinking wine affect the brain?Answer : Drinking wine does help the brain in fact so much so that wine drinkers benefit so much more than non drinkers. Scientific studies have proven that brain function slow much faster for non-drinkers then drinkers of wine.Source: a Columbia University study of 1,416 people, published in Neuroepidemiology, 2006.
