It’s Champagne, Game, Set and Match at Wimbledon this year!

Moncharm, Pimms

With Wimbledon reaching its climax, statistics are already in as this year proves to be the Champagne years. Sales this year at the prestigious event have out sold its rival Pimms and for the first time ever.
It seems the bubbly drink is now the favourite of tennis fans as they flock to Wimbledon to cheer on Andy Murray and co. The sales for Champagne has seen a massive increase since the tournament began over a week ago, figures revealed show that it’s so great that the contrast is non-comparable.  To shed light on this we have learnt that the increase is a whopping 400% something which is usually not possible.

With June being one of the wettest ever it seems that Pimms the summer drink has taken a back seat as a result of the downpour. With a shortage of Prosecco people tend to grab the equivalent and that a good glass or bottle of Champagne.
We asked Atalay from Moncharm, London’s Fine Wine Merchants on his views regarding this and he commented “ People tend to see Pimms as a summer drink and with the bad weather lately natural behaviour means no sun no Pimms, that’s how we behave.”  Atalay also added “ Also at prestigious events the glamour of holding a bottle of Champagne or glass of Champagne adds an extra little bit of luxury and something exquisite to the occasion hence the dramatic increase in sales at Wimbledon this year.”
Below are a few examples of some of the lovely Champagnes recommended by Moncharm to enjoy for any occasion.
